Gypsy Arts Festival South East
Saturday 6 & Sunday 7 September 2008
The Hop Farm, Paddock Wood, Kent, England

Gypsy Arts Festivals are a celebration of Gypsy and Traveller culture through the Arts. No race on earth has inspired more tales, fables and dreams than the Gypsies and Travellers. No race on earth has endured so many threats to its rich culture and heritage and yet miraculously survives to tell its own story through its music, art, film, theatre, dance and literature. Gypsy Arts Festivals cross generations and integrate communities. Please join us in the celebration.

The upcoming Gypsy Arts Festivals in Scotland and the South East of England have been funded by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund to raise the awareness and celebrate the Culture and Heritage of the local, national and international Roma/Gypsy and Traveller community.

The Festivals would not be possible without the invaluable support and advice of local Gypsy Traveller communities and their families.

Each Festival is unique. But they all have live music, dancing, storytelling, open fire cooking, displays of wagons, as well as Gypsy Traveller craft demonstrations (basket making, lace work, wagon painting, peg making, paper flowers). And then there are the workshops (music, cooking, art, and dance) and an assortment of traditional and contemporary Gypsy Traveller film screenings... Loads in other words.
